Library
The department of ship technology has an enviable technical library with over 9000 volumes in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering and other engineering subjects. It also subscribes to over 13 periodicals related to R&D in the field as well as on the marine industry, from all over the world. The library also is a valuable source of information since all final year projects undertaken through the years are preserved here in their original version. The collection of rule books is an

Computer Lab

The Department also boasts a well equipped computer lab with a wide range of software packages (procured, donated and also indegeniously developed) used for ship design, structural design and other purposes as well as providing the students with an in-depth exposure to programming languages, advanced computational techniques, computer aided design, etc.,.The lab facility which started with the second ever computer in the state of kerala has kept abreast with all development in computational field through the years updating and upgrading to the latest technologies constantly.

Drawing Room

The department has two well furnished drawing rooms for carrying out the architectural drawings of ships and other related items. The rooms are adequately equipped with large size drawing tables(about 3m long) for the lengthy drawings. The drawing instruments provided include battons, batton weights, paper cutters, straight edges and quality drawing sheets of prescribed lengths.Perplex battons are used to sketch the curves from the offset readings.Batton weights made of iron are heavy loads placed on battons to hold it in place while the curve is drawn. Paper cutters are used to cut the drawing sheets smoothly as required .It has a fine blade and a scroller so that the paper is cut uniformly. The straight edge is for drawing the diagonals on the sheets so as to centre the drawings.the size of a drawing varies from about 1m-3m. The drawing procedure is in fact the very fulcrum of the naval architectural course.

Seminar Hall

The seminar hall in the department is complete with LCD projector and other equipments required for the effective presentation of seminars. Seminars are frequently conducted by renowned naval architects from the industry and professors, both domestic and foreign. The students also make use of the seminar hall for conducting such seminars as is required in the syllabus. The representatives of various multinational companies who visit the department spend their valuable time for discussions , recruitments, etc. in this solemn room of the department.

Fluid mechanics lab

The fluid mechanics lab of the department has state-of- the- art equipments. The Fluid Mechanics Laboratory has complete experimental setups to demonstrate the basic laws of hydraulics and flow measuring devices. Experiments, on flow patterns and other fluid related properties are conducted frequently, effectively and efficiently as per the syllabus. The classical venturimeter, the orifice discharging free, the pipe friction analyzer, the metacentric height analyzer, the orifice meter, etc are some of the equipments in the lab. Similarly, the university has Fluid Power Laboratory gear and centrifugal pumps with required test rigs to study the performance characteristics.
Strength of Materials Laboratory

The Strength of materials Laboratory has Universal testing machine, Tensile testing machine, compression testing machine, Hardness testing machine, spring testing machine, fatigue testing machine etc.

Work shops

Workshop plays a key role in imparting basic workshop and engineering pratical training to the studentsof the college. The workshops with ample space for accommodating all the students in a single batch is available for the training of the students during their first and second semesters. The department workshop has the

Machine Shop

The machine shop equipped with latest model lathes, planner, milling machines etc…. aids the students to acquire engineering skills. The practical knowledge conveyed by this lab stands the student in good stead.

The welding shop

The welding shop in the department facilitates practically coaching the students in the of basic welding technology.

Carpentry shop

Carpentry shops helps students to acquire skills in both power and hand tools and general in formation regarding building materials and construction methods. The students undertake the practice of marking, sawing, extensive planning and chiseling operations. The skills acquired here help the students in making boat models as required by the syllabus.

Fitting shop

Students are trained here to acquire skills in using tools and basic fitting equipments, identification of materials, description and demonstration of various types of work benches, holding devices and files.

Hostel

The students of the department of ship technology can make avail of the university hostel facilities. All students of ship technology continue to stay at Siberia hostel, like their predecessors. In addition to providing conducive environment for studies, Siberia hostel provides other recreational activities like internet facility, television, reading room and games. Mess facility is available to all the inmates at affordable rates. The room rents are also affordable.
